I've been checking all week in great anticipation of good fishing weather this weekend. Well, wouldn't you know it, Friday is supposed to be nice, next Monday is supposed to be nice, but Saturday and Sunday winds are forecast at gusts of 25 to 30! It's like the fishing gods have conspired against us Mon-Fri cubicle dwelers.

Maybe I'm just extra eager to catch magnum sandies, but this year it seems high winds have washed out a lot more fishing days than usual.

I am lucky enough to be able to start and end my day a little earlier, so I can get out a few hours after work a couple days a week-- good boss smile

I learned to take what the lake gives me = sometimes that means a non-windy shore or cove. Last week we found some "new-to-us" fishing spots since the wind forced us to areas we would not normally cover. Also when the wind is howling that may mean anchoring up and using bait or my last resort = trolling.

Windy days are not what I want either...but I am still going fishing smile smile

Very true. You take what you can get. My 8 year old son loves the windy days, he says it's like the log ride at six flags and lasts all day long!

May 4th Sunday
Rudy took son-in-law,Darren and grandson Daryl fishing at Ray Roberts all though the wind was howling they fished in a few good places. They took 2 big catfish, sandies and blackbass. Most were caught and released. They kept about 27 for a good fish fry. The three of them had never been fishing together and they had a really great time. Wind or not. I want to encourage wives, Mother's, sisters and etc.to be happy for the men getting together for a fun day of fishing. I enjoy fishing with Rudy but I gladly give my spot for the guys who want to fish with him.
Happy fishing to you all. Be sure to put on a lifejacket !!No one can swim knocked out or thrown from the boat.
