I have a new (at least new to me)Minn Kota 65 AP that I am trying to mount on my Champion. I was running a Motor Guide until I bent the shaft this past weekend. I wanted the Auto Pilot feature so that is what I bought. My old motor had the Gater Mount and the mount didn't over hang the edge of the boat when the motor was up. When I dropped the motor in the water the mount swang out past the edge of the boat.
Well, my questions is: The Minn Kotoa mount looks to me like it has to stick out past the edge of the boat. Is this right or am I missing something?
It sure looks like it would lend itself to damage if I'm not careful when I pull up to a dock at the front of the boat.......

I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow when it stops raining. It does overhang a bit. Just means that I need to use the other side of the boat when I'm pulling into a dock. You will see that is a small disadvantage after you use the AP the first time.
