Support the USA and buy Ardents you will not be sorry and you will be support the people who believe in America. We all believe in America Joe. You should leave that [censored] out of these threads. And Allison1 had the best idea. Try out all 4 or 5 reels you're interested in. You could actually buy one of each, put some line on them and chunk them in the backyard to get an idea. make sure you keep them new and take back those you don't like.

I bought used Chronarchs. Look for used with boat rash for the best value. Thems is tools not jewelry.

If you read some reviews like on tackle tour you will see that the diawa is very wide. If the curado felt weird i could only imagine how that diawa reel is going to feel in your hand. It may have just been a profile thing with the curado but if you don't have a big hand the diawa could feel even weirder.

I'm curios, how are they not performing for you?I have never had a reel fail, I have had it fall off my rod before, catching a fish ,but that was operator error.Let us know what brands your having trouble with so we can beware.

I just traded all my Revos (3 of them) in for Shimano: 1 Curado 200, 2 Chronarchs and found a citica 200 for $60 on here.

I have alot of Daiwas but I wish I had more Curados. I have a 300 for swimbaiting and its so good Im using it for more than I ever thougth I would. I also like how the Curado covers all the gear ratios! You can get super slow all the way to super fast and thats nice. I prefer the Daiwas magnetic braking system but the curado is great once youve played with it awhile, it gets easier. Danny

Cannot go wrong with Shimano's. Go to tacklewarehouse.com, you can get tyhe Curado's for $159 with rebate, or the Citica's for $69 with rebate. I have six of the Citicas, have had zero trouble. Sadly, the rebate period ended on 4/30/08. Missed my chance to buy another 101D.

Depending on what you want to spend, and what you're fishing for, some of the quantum accurists are reel nice. I bought some of the low end ones for crappie fishing with my jig rods and they are among the smoothest, best casting reels I've used. I'm normally a shimano fan, but those accurists and my catalyst PTI spinning reel have made me more of a believer in quantum.
