Went to R.C. this morning and killed them. Had my limit 1-4 lbs in about 2 hours on shad under a cork in 3 ft. of water on windy point. What a blast. Seems like I always catch the fish when I'm by myself. Could not find any of my friends to go with me this morning.

Sounds like a great day. I have been fishing RC for several years now for catfish and i always put in at the bridge up in the river and go under the bridge and fish in the trees over by the big island. I made a trip up there last weekend and tied up in the trees in about 28 feet of water and threw out some maiz and had pretty good luck. Everyone keeps telling me this time of year to fish windy points but no one has really been able to tell me what that means or where i need to move to. Where we are fishing we always catch small ones from 4 inches up to about 15-16 inches but we never catch any as big as 4 pounds. If you dont mind helping me out i appreciate it.

thanks,

jw

There are lots of areas on the north bank of the Richland arm that are good. Just look for areas of flooded weeds in 1-3' of water. Points are best, but we do well on flats also. Anywhere the prevailing south wind blows into. You need a good anchor for sure. Look for areas not too far from channels and/or dropoffs. We usually tightline, but we also will be out slip cork rigs for the kids and do well also. Now's the time!

hey guys i was planning on hitting RC on Saturday to try and fish the windy points but now they are calling for a north wind 5-15mph. Does anyone know what kind of effect this will have on the catfishing? Will it just be a matter of moving to the oposite bank to find a windy point or will the wind change turn them off completly?

Thanks,

jw

JW p.m. sent. Well Friday I was going to go to my usual fishing spot and came across a school of sandies and caught my limit in about 20 minutes. Then I went to my point I usual fish and took me three tries to get my anchor to hold. Put out my first rod and wam. Caught a 3 pounder. Then my cell phone rang and my wife told me her mom was in the ER so I had to leave and get home. Maybe this friday I'll try it again.
