Recently I went to a fishing place near my house, Olmos Park. There were schools of pumpkinseeds and bluegill with the occaisional bass, koi, and turtle. First I used a powerbait worm and immediately got multiple strikes but no hookset. Next a sage guru appeared, gave me some bait, and showed me how to rig a bobber. I casted, and a fish immediately took it but did no set the hook. Next i caught a monster pumpkinseed, the only one caught that day even though I had many fish take the worm. How to hook a worm?
I have a tank of fish in my basement... if it were up to me, I would let them loose in my pool so I could fish in my backyard!

I assume you are talking live worms here. You need a long shank hook and then you pretty much thread the worm from one end on to the hook to cover it up to the eye, then pinch it off leaving about 1/2" hanging off the point. If you leave too much hanging the little guys will suck it right off the hook before you can react. Good luck and tight lines.
Probably the saddest thing you will ever see is a mosquito sucking on a mummy, Forget it little friend!! :-(

I came back today and used a soft plastic and caught several. Same as last time, I set the hook on about 1/20 of the strikes. However, it was the first time I ever caught anything on a soft plastic. Quite a big step for me. I think it was because the worm was covering the point of the hook.

and anyways, I swear they were pumpkinseed that I was catching, but their range doesn't extend all the way down here.

your hook may be to big for the fish. If this is the case, they will just pull the worm right off since the hook wont fit in their mouth. Good Luck
I only fish on days that end in "Y"

A tiny hook,(a #10(not 0/10) or smaller) with a very small piece of bait, whatever it is. Ive caught very nice size perch on a #8 hook. Biggest problem is them swallowing it.

I use a #6 long shank and it seems to be the right size. Very few fish swallow it. But I do keep a pair of needle nose pliers in my pocket for that occasional deep hook. If the fish swallows the hook, I just cut the line and tie on another one, If he isn't big enough to keep, then I through him back. The hook will rust out in a few days, at least that is what I've been told.

yeah. Idk about the hook rusting out but at best it might swallow it and be alright. I've caught them with hooks in they're stomach that look like they've been there a while.
