 Looking for somewhere around Houston

Going to visit my brother in June, looking for somewhere around Houston to do some catfishing.. probably from the bank. Any suggestions?

Hi,
If you don't want to drive too far then you can hit Lake Houston via Deussen Park or the East Fork area. There's a thread or two about Houston parks and such in 'Ponds, Tanks & Private Waters'. If you're willing to drive some (~45 min), then you can head up 290 to the Brazos River. If you're willing to drive a little further (~ 1hr 10 min), then I recommend Somerville @ Welch Park. You can drive up and park right on the edge of the water. Conroe and Livingston are up 45 a ways but I've never fished from the bank at either.

I think you should come on down to san antonio for some novato rigging with me! I might have to do'r Novato... any idea what the drive is like from Houston to SA? I know its a few hours.. or I thought.. Too lazy to mapquest at this point
