I know this is going to open up a box of worms but I'm gonna do it anyway. By no means am I trying to dog anyone here either so don't take this the wrong way.

I went out to RH yesterday to join the boat parade and managed to start catching a few fish on slabs. There were probably 6-7 other boats around which was fine but as soon as I caught a couple of fish, 2 boats immediately started trolling right through everyone. How hard is it to just fish a slab or whatever you prefer in a particular area? If you want to troll, why not troll the outside of an area rather than through where everyone is fishing? It's just inconsiderate and scatters the fish out for everyone. I guess I'm more used to the old days where there was less trolling going on and more fishing.

As "corse" as this may sound it's the truth....sand bass/hybrid fishing is not that hard to learn. Some days they bite and some days they don't but if you spend some time trying to learn how to read a graph and know where fish are more apt to be located you will be able to catch fish consistantly without having to troll.

Some people are just rude and inconsiderate. It's just like when you finally find fish, here come the jet fleas and ski-idiots. Trolling is another form of stupity when done in a stupid fashion. When I am trolling and I see someones slabbing, I always either try to go as far around them as possible or turn the engine off, reel up and turn around. I know you go fishing to catch fish, but I hate it when people try anything to ruin your trip.

Baker, I agree and yesterday on Hubbard was bad. There are several community holes everyone that fishes knows about like the peanut, Rp, and TP. It seems like when 4-5 boats get on one, everyone on the lake swarms to them and here come the trollers. Yesterday I had a guy idle up at Terry park and ask if we were catching anything while his engine was still running and my son had a fish on. 5 yards away at best! But that is the way it is on a weekend.

Believe it or not, I think some people are just that clueless. They really don't know any better.

I used to get mad and say something to people, but it just starts trouble. I have learned to just try to ignore them and keep having fun.

I hope people who are just learning the lakes find this site and see the information to learn better techniques. It wouldn't hurt if a game warden could maybe give some kind hearted advice to people out there every once in a while. I'm not saying to write tickets, but I think they would be a better medium to warn people about trolling or idleing through a collection of boats.

4 or 5 boats on the same point is a crowd at tawakoni but here is what happens to us a few times
my wife and I spend a lot of time trolling- that is the way she likes to fish (unless they are surfacing) we NEVER start trolling an area where another boat is unless they are anchored or drifting and we stay well away, but on more than one occasion, and as recently as yesterday, I have had slabbers or casters pull their boats very close to our marker bouys and start casting away
like is said so many times on this forum- some people are just rude

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

well i guess it's kinda far-fetched to expect courtesy on the weekend at any lake. but i had my girlfriend with me and i really wanted her to catch fish. all i got to show her was how to scare fish off. she saw plenty of those examples this weekend! but some kind words from a game warden about ethical fishing would probably do some good. but the problem now at RH is the fisherman are the least of concerns for the game wardens...it's the other 8000 drunk idiots on boats and jet skis.

lets all put our money together, buy a 3000 acre lake, stock it with whatever we want then we don't have to worry about other people!! haha

I agree with you Baker it's hard to get the message out for some courtesy on the water when there are so many drunk idiots who ruin the lake for everyone else. The open container laws just encourage it.
