Surely you all know this....you hold and suspend a deceased chicken or small turkey for plucking and further preparation prior to cookin'................Could probably use it to do the same thing to gar.

at first i thought horse shoe tool

but it is too curved for that, so i choose a real person shoe tool

for old shoes of course

It looks like part of a meat carving set. The spikes under the handle holds the meat or roast, and the fork is used for serving.

BG is correct. It is for carving a roast. Although, I do believe you actually use the fork for more than just serving. You stab it with the fork, the spikes keep it from moving while the fork supports the weight for rotating/moving.

Could it be that the spikes are "spikes" at all, but there use to be a rubber/plastic/wood body and the spikes were just shoved into that body to hold it on, now the piece of rubber/plastic/wood has fallen off? Some sort of fancy nail pull that doesnt damage the surface becuase the leverage would be on the rubber body? shooting in the dark here.
