I'VE LIVED IN THE DFW AREA (MID CITIES) FOR 16 YEARS NOW AND HAVE NEVER BEEN FISHING IN THIS AREA. I'M A LITTLE RUSTY PLUS I HAVEN'T DONE A TON OF FRESH WATER FISHING. I HAVE 6 KIDS WHO HAVE ALL ASKED TO GO FISHING. I HAVE NO BOAT SO I NEED TO KNOW WHERE IS A GOOD PLACE TO GO IN NORTH TEXAS WHERE THE FISHING IS GOOD AND I CAN KEEP ALL THE KIDS ENTERTAINED. THEY ALL LIKE TO EAT CATFISH SO THATS GOING TO BE MY MAIN TARGET. ANY TIPS?? TYPE OF BAIT?? GOOD SPOTS??

Lilmike, Welcome to the TFF , it's a great start for your questions, however, can you be a little more specific as to where "here" is. A more specific area will probably net you better results. You might even edit your subject to include a lake or city.

Grapevine Lake, Marshall Creek park up in Roanoak off of 377 would be a good place to start. Turn RT, if hedded North, just at the edge of the Wallyworld parking lot. For kittys you could use frozen shrimp or cut frozen shad, both from Academy, cheap hot dog wennies in about 1 in. pieces, cocktail wennies, live goldfish, cut shad, chicken liver/gizzards, or if your feeling brave some type of stink/punch bait. Also Rockledge Park on the North side of the dam I hear is good for kittys. Hopefull someone else will offer up some advice. Hope this helps. Eagle Mt. lake, and Lewisville lake both have a good population of kittys I just don't know any bankfishing places on them. You might also try posting in the Bank Fishing section for more info.

Westlake Park at Lewisville Lake is a good place also to take your kids to also. There is some good bank fishing ther for catfish and if you take a throw net and get you some shad thee also, the blues will hit them. It is just north of the old Dallas lake dam. Here is some directions on how to get there I found.
Directions:
On I-35E going North or South take the Swisher Exit (exit 458). From the North cross over I-35 onto N. Denton Dr. Stay on Denton Dr. until the Main St. stopsign. Turn left and stay on Main St. until it enters into the park.
From the South, take the N. Denton Dr road until Main St stop sign. Turn right and stay on Main St. until it enters into the park.

Kid Fish is having an event at Rheudasil park in Flower Mound on Sat. May 3rd satarting at 9am. I have never been to one of their events but I'm planing on taking two of my girls.
