[insert model the poster uses] is better and is what I'd go with...
seriously, the Curado is a very good reel, and if that's what you like and want, go with it and don't listen to anything we say.
You could do something like having a 300 for heavy duty stuff, 200 for all-purpose, and a 100 for finese applications. That would be a pretty good little system.

Cannot go wrong with Shimano's. Go to tacklewarehouse.com, you can get tyhe Curado's for $159 with rebate, or the Citica's for $69 with rebate. I have six of the Citicas, have had zero trouble.

Shimano Curado's, I bought most of mine on ebay for no more than $150 each.

Daiwa 153 HSTA or Revo STX. If you're wanting to spend a little less money I've had good service out of my Citica's.

Tackle Warehouse only has the 300's left. They won't get any more in until the new model hits ground. The Curado 100 is a great little reel, and if you score them with the rebate they are very competitive.

Wait till the new Shimanos are released, though the current Shimano 100's ain't bad, just getting harder to find as time passes. Or....you could go out and just buy ya a dozen new Abu Revos, or save a buck or two and get a mess of $69 Citicas!

I have an opinion. Its not yours. Go with your opinion or just buy what I tell you to.
Go find a buddy that has a good Daiwa. A Shimano. An ABU. Try them all out in varying conditions with different line sizes. I liked all my Shimano's I've owned but its not my favorite reel because of the braking system they use.
PS. IF one buddy doesn't have all these reels its ok to have more than one buddy.
