Hey ya'll
Gonna try it after Lunch tommorrow if the wind ever dies down. Fished a little bit from the shore at Twin Coves boat ramp this evening and caught a few small ones on the double grub setup. NO doubles and everything was under but it was fish. Fished about 45 minutes and caught 8 whites and 3 LMB. Casting into the wind was tough as I could cast it about 40 yards south but it would come back about 15 of that. I always enjoy a challenge. Picked up a couple nice LMB on pumpkin lizards 5" at same location. 1 went almost 2 pounds. I give ya a report tommorrow after I get back.
Goodluck

Headed out late this afternoon, hopefully we'll get into some. I'll post if we do any good . If not I'll deny going.

I don't think that will be a problem. We may be out there late tommorow A.M. as well. If the winds behave. We'll have a boatload of people, if you see us yell at me.

Will do. The weather report says the wind should lay down a little after noon.

Well we made it out around 5:00p.m. and started lookin for sandys. Checked the island and found nothing. Went over to Rock Ledge park and was just about to leave when I saw some signs of life on the graph. So we dropped the trolling motor and some slabs w/flies by nite flies down and found a few sandys. My first catch was a double w/two keepers. You gotta love that. Fished with my stepson Don and his G/F's son Dalton. Of course Dalton ended up kicking both our sorry arses. Dalton, Rule #1. Don't outfish the Capt., Cocky kids these days . We managed to get 12 keepers and caught around 30 total for the day. Had the pleasure of meeting fellow TFF'er Jacky Wiggins and his family at twin coves. Nice looking group. Kids were fired up about their catches. He gave me a couple of more sandys. Thanks Jacky. Beautiful family you have there and the kids are priceless. They'll have you schooled in fishing in no-time . It wasn't exactly a 200+ day but it was my best sandy trip so far. Ended up cleaning/butchering 14. My first time cleaning sandys, I've got a lot to learn but I'm learning. I don't know if the coldfront had much effect but a fun day. Also good to see my friend/co-worker Bill and met his wife Pam. Poor Pam. You have to live with him.

1:16 P.M
IM PULLING MY HAIR OUT WATCHING THE TREE TOPS AND THE UNDERGROUND WEATHER.
1:17 P.M
WIND HAS DIED DOWN 50% FROM THIS MORNING AND LOOKS TO CONTINUE TO ONLY DROP FROM HERE TILL MIDNIGHT
1:19 P.M
I cant stand it any longer!!! I am getting in the explorer headed back out there for the night. I plan on doing some night fishing and putting in at minimum 10 hours as of right now. I do have the camera , so if I dont post any pics as of 2 a.m then I must have dropped it in the lake. Im going for big bass today and crappie a nd sandies and what ever else bites my line tonight.

Bama it was great to meet another former Alabamian here in Texas. I try and fish the vine at least once a week and sometimes do the late night thing from around 9-12pm. Let me know sometime if you would like to wet a line together.

I dont wanta look like a comlplete dummy..........1:32 p.m now she wont play POKE HER....so Im gone to the lake. Well I never let that stop me .............1:32 Dang bad luck . F&P I'm gonna try to get out tommorow if the winds behave. By the time I get up and to the lake it would probably be late A.M. Here's a great website from Tiny, a guide up in Okieland. He's a catfish guide but his tips section has alot of great info about different ways to rig up baits. When it comes to catfishing, Tiny Is Da Man. http://www.catfishing.tv/Main/tips-section/TipsSection.html Some of it carrys over to all types of fishin. A carolina rig is just putting your weight on the line above a swivle, tie to the swivle on the top, then tying a leader, about 12"-36" to the bottom of the swivle, then tying your hook to the end. This allows the bait to float above the grass on the bottom. A santee cooper rig is the same only you place a small float about 12" above your bait hook to help bring the bait up off the bottom so kittys can get the bait without digging in the mud. Bama it was great to meet another former Alabamian here in Texas. I try and fish the vine at least once a week and sometimes do the late night thing from around 9-12pm. Let me know sometime if you would like to wet a line together. I had forgotten you were from Alabama, I thought I detected greatness. I'm a creature of nights now since I work night shift. But 12 midnight is when I usually get off work, when I'm lucky. I'll let you know sometime about fishing. It's never hard to talk me into it. Keep those beautiful kids interested.

F&P, I'm wanting to hit the lake around 10:30ish. I'm waiting to find out if Donnie is gonna show or not. If so there would be three adults and maybe a teenager which is about all my boat can handle. If not you would be more than welcome. Shoot me a P.M. w/your number. I'll call you when I find out something. Sorry I can't do better than that. Sorry to hear about your booboo's. I wouldn't think replacing a starter would be that bad but I've never had to have repairs done on my boat either. Good Luck.

WOW! Musta been the weekend for breakdowns on the Vine. My motor quit me right dab in the middle of the lake at 1:30AM Sunday as I was leaving. Luckily, my buddy was out there with his boat too and he was just loading his boat when he got the call to come tow me! He was SSOOOOOO thrilled...
