10 ball bearings yes... BUT.... you still get what you pay for in a reel..... "just my opinion"..... I think many will agree.

Do you think Shimano and Daiwa are American companies?? Not directed at Eric. Just in general Depends on what you define as American or Foreign made? "American" reels like Ardent are more than likely comprised of foreign made parts. Shimano, Abu Garcia, Daiwa, etc. are companies with Main headquarters overseas, but they employee many Americans and therefore contribute to the American economy. If you feel better buying "American" because you think it's completely American then that is fine. Naive, but fine...

You really should do some research before saying that someone is naive--Ardent reels are manufactured(every part) in Macon, Missouri USA--I had the same question about them so I started asking around. One of the reasons the reels have a break in period is because the specs on the gearing ect are so tight. When you call the customer service you get someone that speaks English and is at their headquarters--not just the headquarters of their American branch. Good company--I would bet that a left hand model will be out in the near future.

The Ardent reels are 100% made in the USA. Even their caps and shirts are made here.

Funny, every time I have called Daiwa I get an American that speaks English very well. I did not know California was located in Japan.

1. American Made
2. Not American Made ....A. Made in Japan ....B. Made in Sweden ....C. Made in Korea ....D. Made in Malaysia ....E. Made in China ....F. Made in Great Britain ....G. Made in Germany ....H. Made in France .....I. Made in non of the above
One has many choices besides made in China. AFAIK, Ardent is the ONLY choice for made in the U.S.A. when it comes to reels.
Rods are a different kettle of fish however. St. Croix Avid & Legend rods are made is the U.S.A.. True the guides are made in Japan, as are the reel seats but the blanks themselves, and the 'fabric' are made in the U.S.A., and the rods are assembled in Park Falls, Wisconsin U.S.A..
At minimum Falcons are also assembled in the U.S.A., and I believe that their blanks are also made in the U.S.A..
I prefer to purchase Made in the U.S.A. products if possible if there is that American product is completive in terms of performance, ergonomics, etc.. I DO try to avoid buying Made in China products.

Above all else hold these two things in the greatest of circumspection; government and self. YOLO=Schiefspiegler
