I'm taking inventory of my fishing gear that has been sitting idle for quite a few years. Here is what I have:

Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4500 C (2 of them)
Abu Garcia Ambasadeur Power 4
Abu Garcia 521 Flipping reel
Quantum 1310MG (two of them)
Daiwa Magforce (two of them)

Is the new gear much better? I'm thinking of taking the Abu Garcia reels and the Daiwa 1310MGs in to Southwestern to get cleaned and lubed. The Daiwa Magforces are probably not worth it. Agree? Suggestions?

I would take all but the mag force unless your partial to them. They can put new gears in them as well.

Aren't those 1310MG's Quantums rather than Daiwa's????

Abu 521 for sure!

That reel has a LIFETIME warranty.

Abu will never do that again!

I'll have to check tonight on the Magforce. I think they were the less expensive models.

To answer your question, they do an outstanding job no doubt, I had 2 clean & gears/bearings replaced and they're just like new.

It'll cost ~$45.00 per reel (deposit/labor/parts double check with them on price) and if you're ok with that go for it, you will not be disappointed.

That price would include the new parts; a clean and lube if no parts are needed would be less than half that I believe.

Southwestern will let you trade them in for newer models.
