I have been fishing for sandbass for a long time but its always been in the daytime. Are they as easy to catch at night? Do they still school at night? What are the best methods to catch them at night? Thanks JT

growing up on eagle mountain that was the bread and butter to catch a ton of sandies was at night. saftey is your #1 priorety, keep your running lights on!!!, know your area and have a game plan during the daylight, you will incounter some real idiots out there with no lights so go slow. we used black lights so the mono line would show up and keep bugs off. we would fish lighted boat docks and some are better than others, maybe because the lights were brighter or the lights would be closer to the water. i like to use rattle traps (chrome and black 1/4oz or blue). throw past the lights reflection in the water then bring the lure toward the reflection they usually hit it as it enters the light. the vibration and flash is a deadly combination on them. be sure to let someone know what area you will be fishing in case of emergency. if you use common cents you will beat the summer heat and put some fish in the live well.

Ok now the big question... what lakes have a large ## of lighted docks? EM, CC, any others?

Turk,
I have had great sucess on Lewisville fishing at night. I anchor up in an area that tends to hold fish and drop Night Blaster lights into the water. It doesn't take long for the screen on the fish finder to start marking LOTS of shad. Not long after that we start catching the heck out of the sandies on minnows dropped straight down. I have had many 100+ fish nights doing this.

jason, bridgeport would be my other choice.lots of docks in the 3 fingers area (north of lake),and the 114 bridge holds crappie and sandies. this has a lot less idiot factor,i wouldn't encourage fishing the north end and than going to fish the bridge on the same night because of distance, until you learn lake.
