I haven't talked to anyone personally but the fishing report came out today: PALESTINE: Water stained; 61-68 degrees; 0.5' high. Black bass are fair to good on flukes, Senkos, spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Hybrid striper are fair on topwaters, Sassy Shad and live shad. White bass are fair to good on Humdingers. Catfish are fair on prepared bait. It should be about time, my brother and I are going Sunday. If I get any local reports, I will post them.

If you can find them the hybrids seem to be hungery. I found some last Friday about 7pm. Had 5 nice one on the line in less that 20 minutes, managed to get 4 of them in the boat. Biggest was 23 inches and 5.25lbs. Only kept the 2 that managed to swallow the slab down in the gills and tried to bleed out all over my boat. Left them biting because I wanted to have a little light left to clean them with. Went back Wednesday and nada. Wind was a steady 12 to 15 mph gusting to 20 which made it hard to keep the boat in one place so I gave up after an hour or so. I found them on the west side on the flats in front of the house with the "for sale" sign next to the water. It's about a mile north of the dam. I usually have the best luck on the west side and fish from the horse ranch to the dam at any of the points that stick on into the lake. I like to troll a hellpet or cast a chartreuse glitter slab. The slab is what the hybrids were biting last Friday.
Good luck. I have to work this weekend so it will be next week before I can get back out.

I'm sure they are biting. Just don't enjoy looking when there are 4ft rollers. Getting dreached with 67 degree water causes major shrinkage. Hope your weekend is better on the wind.
The last time I could get out they were found in 15-17 ft of water (sandbass) Haven't been so lucky on the hybrids as fishinpharm. Thats why I've been crappie fishing. They have been biting, and in water a whole lot calmer. I'm ready for 100 degree days and NO WIND.

Tuesday - they were hitting spoons in 20 feet of water just north of the horse ranch.

Caught about 20 this evening in less than 10 minutes...good mix of hybrids and sandbass both...
We came out of a shallow cove fishing for crappie about 7:30 pm. Saw them hitting the top chasing shad in about 5' water. Buddy had several bass lures rigged up already so we threw into them and got hooked up just about every cast.
Filled the livewell quick, and left them biting.

North of 155, South of the Villages Thanks for the positive reports. I can tell you they are not south of the 155 bridge and north of the horse ranch. Thats good Gilly , I was hybrid fishing and found the crappie. I think they stocked the smart hybrids in Palestine, just don't let em think your after them. Trump903 you need to hook up with Mo who lives down there. Thanks. I've been down there twice and come up short. Thats the $20 hole. Thats what it cost to run down there and strike out.

I took a friend of mine out there who has never caught a hybrid in 20 years hoping to snag one. We fished noon to 7pm. Got 1 small sandbass.........resorted to crappie fishing and caught 2 bass of 8 inches and 2 perch and a drum and one crappie of 4 inches............DEAD SEA.....fished from tht dam to 155 bridge. Told him I would make him a great deal on about 300 swimbaits before they start to rot. Made me feel like mowing the yard. I think BOTH of the hybrids must be in the back of kickapoo chasing gar. Will try them again but not soon.

The sandys are working their way down the lake. Several of us found them on the south end of Henderson Pt. Larger sandys were in 10-13 ft - trolling Bomber 6-ASI's. There are several schools of smaller ones in 3-6 ft. Watch for the herons hovering. Caught one 4 lb hybrid trolling in 13 ft. If you put in at the Villages, go straight west for 400 yds and look for the two remaining stumps above the surface. Go 30 yds to the SE of them to cut thru to the west side of the lake. The last standing tree is gone. GPS the stumps for future reference. GPS is N 32 12.698 .... W 95 28.421
P.S. There are catfish lines & white jugs everywhere in 15-25 ft depth. NASA can probably see them.

Yesterday afternoon the yearling hybrids and lg sandbass were chasing what looked like ghost minnows on top. Out in front of brookshires. I caught them on a watermelon/red glitter cocahoe until I broke a sweat. Left them to look for crappe, only a few small ones to be found. Later I marked a ton of big hybrids, but I could only coax a few to hit. The way they were stacked , it should have been a fish on every cast. I caught a couple on sassy shad, several on a mag rattletrap, even coaxed one up to the surface to hit a redfin. Most everything else I tried, they ignored. Nice afternoon to be on the water MO
