I will be staying on Crystal Beach May 15-19 and want to know where is a good place to wade at. This will be my first time wadding and don't know where to start. Would like to know of some places on the Bay side. Also any suggestions on what kind of lures or soft plastics to use...Thanx

The bayside of Rollover Pass should be good that time of the year. The surf itself will be good as well. Just north of the Ferry landing is a pretty good spot to wade as well. Hope this helps.

The beachfront at Crystal beach can be very productive water. If you wade out to the 2nd sand bar and cast out into the 2nd "gut" you will catch Trout and redfish cruising up and down that gut chasing shrimp and other bait fish. I always wade out at the end of low tide right before the tide starts coming in. That way you dont have to trudge out through so much rough water with your gear. While shrimp and croaker are really nice to fish with, getting all the gear out to the water and fishing with it isn't. I'd throw several plastic baits...In particular the 3" Gulp shrimp in the new penny and natural colors. Also Norton Sand Eels and Bass assassins work. If you have enough room to carry a few others I'd bring along several CATCH 2000's and gold spoons. Oh one last thing.....take a LONG stringer with a float for the fish you catch. While shark attacks are rare I wouldnt pin a bleeding fish to my hip in that water.

Try the Bolivar Pocket at the base of North Jetty. Use Devil Eyes and topwaters Chrome & Black She Dogs or Spook, Jrs.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Bolivar Pass area, second gut on the surf.

I forgot to mention (we) I have to good fortune to have a house on the beach there. Actually the house is between Caplen and Bolivar Peninsula off of Hwy 87.

the surf is always a blast for Reds. you can also go down Tuna road which dead ends into the intercoastal, theres is some good wade fishing right there. Tore the the flounder up there last year using popping cork and the gulp shrimp. Just pitch it along the edges of the grass and weeds there.
