I caught my first carp yesterday on Grapevine! I don't know exactly how big it was but some one who saw it said it looked like it was about 25-30 pounds. I caught him on a piece of cheeseburger. I was using an ugly stick with 20-pound test and a treble hook with NO weight. It was the best fighting fish I ever caught! The fight lasted about 4 and a half minutes. (Guess you can say I was the one who got hooked.) Do they usually bite on random bait like that with that slow presentation? Or was this pure luck of the draw? Oh and how do I post the picture on this discussion page?

Congrats, the time you spend fishing will never be the same! They will bite on the oddest things sometimes. Scott won the tourney with wheaties and coca cola this weekend! People have a habit over overestimating the size of carp but its very possible it was 20lbs. The 20's always seem to show up when the lake is at flood stages. To phot pics you upload to a site like photobucket.com and post the [IMG] url from that page here. See this thread to photo instructions http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/983454#Post983454

Upload the pic to photobucket, then copy the IMG code (below the uploaded pic) into your post. There are more in-depth instructions at the top of the photos section on the tff.

This is awesome! I cant wait to see the pic.

Many folks that use flaked cereal will use all kinds of sodas to bind the flakes. It is an old fashioned, yet still effective, baiting method.

yeah he grinds the wheaties in a blender then adds coke on the bank. mash into a paste and squish it on a hook.
