I'm the NFG here and just wanted to say howdy. My home is in Schertz, in the Northeast corner of San Antonio, but I'm out of the state right now and I sure am missing it. I'm working on a contract job in South Carolina and I'm not too sure how much longer I'll be here, but I am real anxious to get home to Texas and eat some real food for a change. There's some real nice folks here in the Carolinas, but they don't know a thing about Mexican food or barbeque. Y'all keep it up on the forum here. It's nice to hear what's gong on back home.

Hey, Jim! Welcome to the best fishin' talk in Texas!

If you get a chance, and I know it's a bit off the beaten path, go by Greenbrier resort in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. You'll get the barbecue you deserve there....it's the home of Barbecue University.

Dang kingdad, you realy know how to make a fell feel bad, dont you? Well at least it wasn't Mesquite smoked brisket, Ranch beans, potato salad and jalepeno corn bread. Uh-oh, I just made myself so hungry that I think that I hurt myself!

Welcome to the TFF. Drop in here each day to get a little taste of Texas to make you feel at home. It may not be as good a taste as the BBQ quail that I had Saturday night, but it should help.

Hey, Oldgringo, just let me know where you are at and I'll Fed-Ex over night a whole passel of it to you if you'll send me a couple of dozen real, honest to goodness, handmade, make you want to slap your Mama, tamales. Any one else need any of this damnearyankee barbeque in exchange for some real food? Dang! maybe I should move this thread over to the "swap and sell" forum.

JiminTexas-
I went to USC and worked for the State-Record Newspaper in Columbia in the 50's. I used to live (?) at Doug Brooms's BBQ. Don't know if it's still there, but they used to put a fairly decent BBQ plate together.
Sure glad I settled here in TX in 1997....

Right now I'm in Greenville, pretty close to Clemson Tiger territory.

"Texas Is Like a Whole Other Country". That's what Mrs. Oldgringo's license plate says -- I agree. banana That said, give me pulled pork shoulder BBQ woot anyday over range cattle. That's what I say. Tacos are another story wink .

I was born in Columbia SC but I regularly have my grandparents in Wilmington NC ship me Carolina barbecue. I love that stuff!
