they have been catching a lot of big bass at the del lago marina. i have been crappie fishing over there the last couple of weeks and i have never seen so many huge bass caught out of lake conroe. try there and you should do fine. the whole place in there is fairly shallow.
they were throwing soft plastics and shallow running crank boats. good luck.

TexasRanger,
Have you been doing any good with the crappie? I am planning on heading up to Conroe this weekend with my 12 year old nephew for his first fishing trip, and wanted to let him do some perch jerking.
Thanks, JD

FIshed North on SUnday Was a tuff bite for me anyway.... Did catch a couple in shallow running a sumo tail frog that was fun about 2 1/2 #'ers. After the moring bite I searched and came up with only one more. I couldnt even get the dinks... loaded up at 2 and headed home. Yard Work was calling

Try the windy blown points with a brown colored spinnerbait, gold blades. We have been doing really well with them. A watermelon/grn Senko dead-sticked has been good for some better fish. North or south doesn't seem to matter. Good luck.

My nephew decided not to go with me, so I grabbed a friend and went out anyway. I launched out of April's at 9am and headed up to Lewis. Picked up 3 keepers on a bleeding shad spinner bait. 11am moved to Little lake and picked up 2 on one of my frogs, one which was about 6 pounds. 1pm moved to Peach creek to finish off the day and boated 6, four dinks, one 3 pounder on my frog, and a 5 pounder, all on the bleeding shad spinner bait except the one frog fish. Caught 6 in peach creek in less than a 30 yard area, all 3ft or less, south side of the cove by the only hydrilla I could find in peach, about 100 yards before you get to the old abandonded boat hull. Water temp ranged from 71 to 74.5, and the bits I did get were very agressive. All in all a pretty good day, excpet the wind came up again.

Caught 7 Sunday, all under 16", but close! 5 on a WM Red worm in 5-6' of water. Lots of birds on the bank in the brush eating shad, a few fish busting on top early. Finished a noon, too many joy riders churning up the water.

JG is on to one thing that we have found as well, if you catch one, just park and really cover the area. The fish are piled up together once you find them. The point off of Cagle Park is one spot that has been loaded. We did well on the grass in Peach creek also.
