Weather permiting I'm planning on heading out to Ray Roberts Friday night. I've never night fished Roberts before so I would like to stay on the south half of the lake. i'm more familiar with that area. Looking mainly for some sandies but will rig for multiple species if possible. Any suggestions? area?,time of night? bait?(planning on store bought minnows and lures but will bring the cast net if there's a good spot to catch bait) I've always enjoyed fishing at night but I never have nearly the success that I do during the day so any help is greatly appreciated.

hang lights / lanterns around structure, i.e bridge piers in the creek arms? not sure if the water is clear enough for the light to attrack fish though. We used to do well with this in OK although much clearer lakes.

Wow, beat me to the punch. I had the same exact question exept for LL. My question is night fishing for crappie limited to live bait only? We will be hanging lights plus should have an almost full moon. So are jigs/roadrunners to small of a profile to see at night?

I would suggest night fishing the 3002 bridge. The sandies should be moving back out towards the main lake soon so a lot of them pass under the bridge at night same with crappie. It might be a little early but come May it should be great. I would suggest the 1st to 4th piller on the west side of the bridge for sandies or the 1st to 3rd piller on the east side for maybe a mix of crappie and sandies. My first choice would be the first piller. If you set up at sunset and get your lights out normally after about 30 min after dark to 2 or 3 hours is your best time. If the wind is blowing you can forget even tring it. I hope this has been some help. Good Luck Cliff
