Wow, that is a nice slab for anyone, much less for a first fish ever!!!! I can see why you had a hard time getting him to quit. Tell the boy congratulations for me. I agree that you should submit that last pic with him in the sunset for a TFF cover photo! That is one fantastic photo.

Great fish! I bet he is hooked for life and that's a good thing! I had 5 of the neighborhood kids (5 to 7 in age) in my garage last saturday bringing me their rods, reels and lures to help fix and hook them up. On of their dad's took them down to the small pond and one of them hooked up on a 2# bass. I also took my wife, daughter and her boyfriend out that afternoon. We all had a great time.

Just got this off my cell phone ( it would not let me download it the other day) The fish was 18 3/4" long...anyone know how big that averages out to be? I've seen people who have ways of figuring that out. I'm still kicking myself for not weighing the fish. I've had one crappie guide that he thinks it will go right at 4lbs.

I'll wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a lake record. the record for my old home town lake is 3.19# and 19.25". I personally caught some bigger there back in the day and didn't even think about checking records.
