There used to be a lot of spoonbills in the Trinity River below the Lake Livingston Dam. I snagged one with a rattle trap one morning and couldn't reel it in against the current so a guy in a boat behind me netted it. We met up on the bank and the game warden and another man from TRA showed up almost immediately. The GW measured and weighed it (27 pounds), I asked if they were any good to eat and he said yes if you can afford the fine lol, we turned it loose.
