When is the last time you changed your spark plugs? One or more is most likely fouled.

budman ...I had the same situation with my yamaha once, mechanic said it had gone into slow mode, he said it was a safety program built into yamaha engine to protect them from overheating, it will only allow so many rpm's until it is reset or whatever the problem is is fixed, such as water pump or whatever. I don't
know but that was my problem, seemed to be just a small quick fix the no more problem, hope it's nothing bad Good luck...

Alot of folks mistake engine problems with a Primer Bulb problem....They do get little air leaks in them, and will cause your motor to not get enough full and stall out...Its happened to ME before.....This may or may NOT be yopur problem, but if you're out on the lake again BEFORE you take it to the shop, if she stalls out, shut it donw and reach back and check to see if your bulb is hard....Just a suggestion

Just curious if any of your warning lights are on? Had a problem like this once because the sensor was reading low on oil and the motor was in slow mode. Check your oil tank inside the engine if for some reason your oil is a little bit low in this even though the main oil tank has plenty it could be putting the engine in the slow mode. Had this happen once when I was in really rough water the motor used some from the backup oil tank and caused this to happen.

Sounds like low oil to me. Might have a problem with your sensors not notifying you.
