Well Boys.. It appears that Falcon IS the best bass lake in the country.. It took some of the Best Anglers in the world to reinforce what we knew here for the last couple of years.. That Falcon could dish out some monster stringers. And boy did it.

The fishing continues to be very good, with easy limits of fish coming on most any method used..

I went to the Tigers on Tuesday and fished a few of the long sloping points in there and found fish to be on most of them. I used a Texas rig with a Zoom Ol Monster in Plum. Most of the fish were 12-18 feet deep..

I cruised the area where the concentration of fishermen were during the Elite, and there are a lot of humps and bumps there.. It's just a lot deeper than most of us are used to fishing.. But I did mark a spot or two..

In any case, the fishing is going great and Bass Champs is scheduled for late in the month.. They should have some great stringers too..

Holler at us at the store if we can help you..

James,

As always, thanks for the report. I hope you plan to share some of those spots you marked in the Tigers with me!

Maybe I can get down there in a couple of weeks to fish.

Work has been crazy and the wife has got me remodeling the kids bath on top of that.

James,

Thanks for the reports. It was great to meet you in person and Falcon Lake Tackle. Have you posted pics of Walt's big ol' pig?

James,

Great reports...keep them coming. Word is there was a LARGE fish kill at Falcon during the Elite tournament. Parks & wildlife supposedly documented 500 fish in the 5-7lb range. Can you confirm this? This has led BASS to only allow a 3 fish limit for co-anglers fishing the Amistad Elite this week. I have a friend fishing and he told me of this news last night.

I hope the fish kill is just a rumor.

PLEASE RESPOND.

If it is true, they need to tell BASS to go somewhere else next year.

I have no solid number on the ammount of bass killed.. It was substantial however.. I would agree it was hundreds..

See my flash report at FalconLakeTackle.com

I appreciate all of your concerns, and I feel like you do..

Just not sure what to do about it.. But we need to push for some regulations to help protect our fishery..

Hopefully now maybe some of you guys can understand why I, was complaining on a early post, Falcon lost alot of fish that will take years to replace, not to mention that the lake is very low most years.

I have to agree with RT on this one, I grew up fishing this lake, fished it nearly every weekend for 15-17 years up to 1998, and have known it was one of the best in the world for black bass.

That tournament just scratched the surface of what lurks in Falcon; we used to spend a whole eight hours fishing a small feeder creek back before the big drought. While I agree the fishing attention will be great for Zapata and the surrounding community it is not going to be good for the fisheries in the long run. Also folks need to remember Falcon is gets step-child treatment as far as water regulation is concerned as Amistad gets dibbs on it first.

500 dead fish you say? Man that is sad, between gill netters and BASS tournaments the lake will be barren in a few years.

I will see if I can round up some photos of me standing in my boat while touching the belfry of the church in Old Guerrero while it was under water.

My favorite place to fish on the lake was the hydrilla beds in Aroyo Salinillas.

Im glad someone brought this up cause it was a real shame to see all those dead fish. I dont know the # either but it was a bunch and when bass does come out with a # you can double it becuase I know if your not in the race for the top 12 you can have 2 dead fish in your bag and they will count 5 fish 5 alive just to keep the dead fish count down, dont get me wrong im a tournament fisherman but not at this price, something has got to be done, like the guy said befor me in the long run the economy will be worse off when the fishing sucks. on sat. the veleno was full of white bellies.Just horrible.

I don't know why they couldn't have manatory weigh-ins every two hours. you have to come in, check in, and weigh fish if you have them. Make the scales as accessable as possible. even if you have 4 different sets located thoughout the lake. this would save fish for sure. It might cost a few extra gallons in gas, but all of this is Corporate sponsored anyway.

What you guys think about that?
