I saw a couple of yakkers braving the wind at Paddle Point Park on Ray Hubbard today. I noted the TKF sticker on the VW: nice set up. I hope you payed no attention to the goofy bald guy in the red Yukon waving and honking.

One was myself. It was indeed windy. All I got to show for it was 5 or 6 channel catfish and a yellow bass.
Stopped at basspro's restaurant and had a beer or 2 on the way home. That pretty much made up for any wind problems.

I will let out the secret for you multi-species types... I caught a bowfin north of the railbridge there about 10 years ago. It was my only one ever, and it was magnificent. Dont know how many points its worth, but it was a fish I will always remember.

yeah,I know there are a few in there, lake record exists, and those back bays are the best spot for them.
I've only caught one in my life, a little 2 lber from the San Jacinto river.
I'll never forget it, but I hope to catch a few more in the future. They're as hard to target as freshwater drum are.

I have a few *very few* to log, I hope to get them in tonight or tomorrow.
I may not even make the front page during the contest. but still, every time someone mentions it, I feel like I won the contest. The turnout and support for our little contests have blown me away. we have 82 people involved, and 300 members over there.
Its been just over a year, we may have struck some sort of multispecies nerve here in Texas. Not a huge one of course, but a dedicated one.

Hey txfishes, were you in the green yak or the yellow one? I passed by too and was very happy to see a couple guys out doing what I wasn't able to do. That was some serious chop. Glad to see yall enjoying the calm waters south of Miller.

I was in the yellow Hobie Outback. I stayed very dry and the wind wasn't that bad for me.

I intended to be out there today, but a kid home sick, and some family obligations kept me in the house. The sand bass are thick in the timber there, and I have seen buckets of catfish coming out of the area. I tried to pick up a few cats there the day I saw you, but I didn't have my surf weights, and the bait wouldn't stay in place. I called it after a few minutes and went home.

Does anyone know what the water depth is at Paddle Point? Is there any dominate fish in that area? Looks like a good place to kayak fish.
It doesn't get any better than this! Or does it?

It is a great place to fish. The channel between the causeways is about 17', the timber on the west side is around 15'. The east side near the parking lot is average of 10' from the channel and gets shallow around 50' out. I have forgotten how deep the bridge areas are. There is plenty of deeper pockets I have found. There have been sand bass in the channel and timber, crappie in the timber and bridge columns, and bass on the riprap in the last couple of weeks. There are always bank fishermen catching cats at the parking lot. There is clay flats, mud flats, riprap, timber, reeds, a submerged creek, and just about every other kind of structure I can think of within a one mile paddle. I have not found a steep drop off there yet, but I am still looking. The best thing is that with the two causeways there is lee waters in almost any wind direction. Good luck. I am the bald guy in the LIMEGREEN Malibu ProExplorer on top of the red Yukon. Say hi if you see me.

Took my 12ft Native out to lynn creek at Joe Pool the other day when it was CRAZY windy. Atleast I had some protection from the wind in the inlets of the docks.
Bad day, only ended up with one 6in channel cat and a male bass probably 12inches. Rough day for a 2 hour drive.
Wreck 'em
