Hey y'all,
My wife and I are probably moving to Universal City from San Marcos this summer. For those of you who don't know where this is, it is near Randolph AFB in the northeast San Antonio area. Since I really don't know the area, is there anyone on the board who knows anyplace to fish around there? I usually fish the San Marcos and Blanco rivers now, plus a couple ponds and Canyon Lake. I've tried Google Maps of the area and I don't see any bodies of water that stand out. Any help would be great-I really need fishing on the weekends to wind me down after teaching 8th graders all week. Thanks in advance!

Lake Calaveras is pretty good for catfish. Also, about an hour south is Choke Canyon Reservoir, which has some awesome fishing if you don't mind the drive.

Also, there is Live Oak City Park. You can fish there, but it is bank fishing only.
It is not a bad place, about 75 acres. Gogle it and you will see address and directions.
You can also fish at Medina lake, medina river, guadelupe river, Lake McQueeny, and a slew of other places.
Good Luck!

Thanks Bid Ted, I've driven by the little lake at Live Oak without even knowing it was there! I went to the TPWD website today and found it. I'm excited to be moving to the SA area, new fish-closer to work, etc. Hopefully, the fishing will be better than around San Marcos! See you out there.

so sorry to here this, dont get me wrong your problably a cool dude, but san antonio is the worst for bank fishing, when you do find one(i stress when)it is way overfished and crowded.my son and i are travelling all the way to blanco.long way to go for a quick fish. your best bet is the guadalupe and its creeks if they aint all dried up.if you find spots or anyone that reads this pm me and we can swap spots.
