Greetings Y'all. I was wondering if anyone has the latest scoop on red fishing line I've been seeing on the fishing shows. Is it really better or what ? I'm always eager to try new goodies, thanks

red is the first color in the spectrem to be absorbed by water, so if you are fishing deep or in stained water it will be as invisible as clear, but clear florocarbon or pink florocarbon seem to me to be the most "invisible" in the greatest number of situations. in other words red will be just as good most of the time but it is not better than floro. and in some cases no better than plain mono. in blue/green/gray ect.

You gotta watch out for the "baitmonkey" and try to keep him under control or we'll be seeing you at the next 12 step for bait junkies.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

Well, in a way I'm a little limited because our Walmart store doesn't have that big of a selection of tackle (and I've bought most of that !) Then there's Russell true value store and out near the lake there's Angler's Lodge tackle and.....hey wait...I forgot about my spring issue of Bass Pro shop magazine......

I got some from walmart last year but it had to much reel memory for me. Now I am still useing a red fishing line from high sea with very little reel memory. So far i like it. Plus for 20# test line at .015 dia. wasn't to bad either.

you know what i always wondered is if red is the first color to go, then whats the deal with "bleeding hooks" i just figured i'd use "bleeding hooks" because the fish wont beable to see 'em! as far as cajun line goes, i don't like the way it looks on my calcutta gtb, p-line cxx green looks way better and when using a floro leader, who cares if your main line dissapears or not.

I thought the same way you did about bleeding hooks, but I bought some red worm hooks anyway, what the heck ! A friend of mine says that's all he uses, we'll see !

there is a differance between the "red" mono & "red" hooks.
the mono is translucent red, the hook on the otherhand is "solid" and anodized red soooo if blood is red andthe hook is red then they SHOULD look the same to the fish, but who really knows for sure both solid red items and blood look black to me at depth (below 30'), don't ask how i know!
