Anyone had any problems with the plastic covering flaking off on dash components. This is on a 2001 SuperCrew and the problem started several years ago and has grown to be a bigger problem. I used to blame the wife for hanging keys on the rear view but I now know that is not the problem. Looks like the parts are steel covered in plastic. This truck has been the biggest piece of you know what that I have ever owned. Wife wants to get rid of it but right now the price is right and it has low miles.

i have an 03 ranger and the stuff is flaking and looks nasty, sometimes i think i should scrape it all off at least then it would be one color, looks like the plastic was sprayed with whatever "paint" they use to give it that almost "textured look"...pain in the @$$...my next truck is a toyota

Looks like Ford has paint peeling inside & out & all over. I am with badassbaits. I just noticed paint peeling on the roof of my 2004 Sporttrac. This is a shame because it has been a really good truck that is if you throw out the rebuilt tranny at 34K miles. Not Ford's fault. The tranny amnufacturer left out some shim washers.

At least you can paint it. My Dodge plastic just cracks.

I've had two ford vehicles and both did that as well as on the outside paint.

i used to run a used car department. there are people that can do anything to your int. - refinish/dye cracked or worn leather, fix cigarette burns, refinish dash - anything. try giving tese guys a call - AutoQual - jeff chitwood(owner.mgr) - 817.988.1079 could be as little as $50-$100.

My wife has a friend whose husband does that kind of stuff. She is supposed to get him to look at it.

google SEM paint products. This is what is used to paint plastics/and or vinyl.

It is actually steel with a textured plastic type coating
