I fished there when I was a kid. My great aunt had a place there in Chalk Hill. But since I don't live there and it is private, I'm up a creek without a paddle. I remember we caught some great sunfish there that were a good size. It is a shame I can't fish there because it is a beautiful lake.

leaving this afternoon and fishing tonight, tomorrow, and sun morn.

Is the water muddy everywhere? What end were you on. Usually if the water is muddy on the west side, i try the deeper east side and usually do better.

Report from the weekend

Me + Uncle

Friday night- Rained all afternoon and by the time it stopped, the rest of the family was sitting down for dinner so we just called it a night and got ready for saturday

Saturday Morning- Got on the water around 630, just in time to see the sun rise. I love east texas scenery. Started off fishing the slu in the main lake, on the north side, right off the point with the fake deer. Started throwing jigs off the point to no avail. Kept moving down, and my uncle caught his first fish using a weightless lizard right by the bank. Not much size at all. Next fish came by me about 5 minutes later on a texas rigged pumpkin seed brush hog. Probably about a pound and a half. Caught 2 more each, all small. Struck out in our next few spots, and ended up going in for lunch with 6 fish, biggest fish about a pound and a half.

Saturday Afternoon- Tried the boat ramp on the main lake south side, used to be where the gas station was. Caught 5 fish in ten minutes on shallow crank baits, and lost 2 more. All were right at a pound. Ended up trying this at another few areas but only one more.

Sunday Morning- Started out at the discharge and the sandies were schooling. Caught around 20 in an hour, but not what we were looking for so we moved. Moved to a point on the south side of the east stumps. Caught 4 keepers, and 2 border lines, all on spinnerbaits floating this point and the flat 200 yards from the bank. Then moved to the dam boat ramp and cove right by it and caught one more keeper on a spinner bait. Headed home and cleaned them, and my grandmother fried them up. GOOD LUNCH.

We then headed back to cleburne, since Sunday was my birthday and we were having a little family get together.

Overall a decent weekend, but still sort of a grind. If you can find a good pattern you will catch some good fish, but our pattern kinda died as we changed locations. Water was very muddy. Best baits were chartruse spinner baits, weightless chartruse lizards, and texas rigged pumpkin brushhogs. All sandies were on spoons/spinnerbaits, if thats your game.

Happy fishing everyone, see you in 2 weeks at the tournament

Almost forgot!

Above the bridge right now is horrid. The water is rediculously muddy, the vegetation was almost not existant due to the high water, and the sludge on the bottom was absolutely disgusting.
