well i have been lurking around the site for a while ever since i decided to get back into fishing. back in high school i sold 12 out of my 13 rods and reels for a reason that i wont get into(not drug related in any way). here lately ive been looking at getting some gear and getting started. ive noticed that ALOT of you guys are partial to the revo reels. would the revo sx-hs be good for an all around reel? ive used abu products in the past so i know that they are good products. im also looking into a shimano curado since i had one previously and liked it.
as for rods, im looking into some of the allstar offerings. anyone have experience with american rodsmiths rods? right now im looking for a rod under 100 bucks in the 7ft. range for all around use on the local lakes. i can upgrade as time goes on.

Yeah, I fish the STX and Curado. I'll take the stx anyday over the curado, along with the sx-hs. I use them for everything. As for rods, my buddy is sponsored by American Rodsmiths and loves them. Some other rods you might check out are the falcon originals and lowriders, and even the bass pro shop rods ( pro qualifier i believe are right at $100). If you really wanna save some $$, check out those phoenix blaze rods, which are something like 3 for $110. They are a little stiff, but can't beat them for the price. I believe a combo of any of the above would serve you well, and probably wouldn't need to upgrade for a while. Good Luck!

Hey, i think you really would enjoy the revo, super smooth and can cast a mile! Their are alot of rods you can look at in the $100 range. Like you said american rodsmith and like said above bps rods are good as well, might also check out castways rods.
Good luck getting back into it, Josh

I love my falcon rods. The lowrider is usually a little over 100, but the originals are great and usually retail around 70 or so.

lowonair, I love my revos! As far as an all around, I think the 6.4:1 ration is better than the HS.
As far as Allstar rods I have some classics and love them. I also have one of their brand new ASR series ordered. I felt it in a tackle shop and love it. check it out on Allstar's website
