Hey guys, I'm moving to Joshua in May and don't know the area at all. Is there any place to fish out that way? I'm not having much luck with maps and the two private ponds I know of are full of pet fish you can't fish for.

Joshua is not far from my house. Pat Cleburne is a good lake for catfish and there is a bunch of bankfishing to be had. The crappies will be up the Nolan soon if not now and there is a park along most of it. Lake Whitney has miles of bankfishing, Aquilla does too. All these lakes are as good or better than Grapevine. The Nolan river near Blum is a good place to fish also.

Short run up 1187, 15 mins or so, will get you to Benbrook lake area Mustang Park ($3), Westcreek circle park (free) can access Bear creak from the road parking by the bridges at 1187 or benday murry rd. can run up to hwy 377 @ 1187 and get to the clear fork of the Trinity. All are bank fishing. Rocky Creek park could also be done which sits on the main lake the others are feeder creeks. Its $3 for the park area or pay $4 and fish the crappie barge. If you plan on doing much fishing I would spend the $28 for a yearly pass thats good for day use areas of every Corps lake in the country.

Thanks for all the info, this site is full of people that have great advice and are willing to help others. If anyone wants a fishing buddy out that way I'll be there in May.
I'm an AF&GC member but I've been laid off from work and I can't afford the daily fees to fish right now. That really sucks because it's prespawn and the big girls are bitin'.

Cleburne has all the bank access you will need. Probably 15-20 minutes from Joshua to having a hook in the water. Oh, uh, my signature pic is fish from there.

Hey guys, I've never fished it. But, what about Joe Pool? Ain't there a state park, at Joe Pool? And if you like river fishing, you can always go a little south and west, towards Glen Rose. There are several campgrounds on the river. < www.TresRiosCamping.com> is a pretty nice campground with good access to the Brazos.
