I thought they were one and the same.

they are not the same lake! Canton City Lake is a small 30-40 acre pond off highway 64.

there have always been some huge carp there, so im not sold that they are grass carp. but it is strange that the grass is nearly gone.

tpwd told me the hydrilla died out when the lake got so low during the drought and then filled back up. he said it might come back after the lake stabilizes for a while. guess we'll see.

The lake never really got that low over the drought. The grass is not as heavy yet as it was this time last year, but it is still there. I fished it a several times in the last two weeks and noticed that over the last week it has really started sprigging up. I think it will be ok, we had 2 really good outings this week over there.

Thanks, Flip. That is a good site, I am saving that.

The stuff on Mill Creek looks like Alligator Weed by the pic on that site.

Yeah the snot grass is more abundant than normal, and what ever this new thick stuff is makes it alot harder to fish the shallows. Its far from unfishable though, ive alot of luck with soft plastic frogs just throwing into it and skipping it across the top. All the fish of any size are up in the Alligator Weed or whatever it is. The hydrilla will be there, it always is. I think its the cold front after cold front thats delaying its arrival. Everyone thats crying about "the grass is gone" will be crying in the next month or so that they cant get their boats anywhere on this lake.

not me. i'll take all the hydrilla i can get. what sucks about the alligator grass is that it's covering up the spawning areas.

Yeah it is covering the spawning areas, but you can still pick these fish up if you throw into it.
