I was catfishing today and my 2 year old boy took a cap off my Abu Garcia 6500 C3 reel AND DROPPED IT IN THE OUTLET.
The problem is I am not sure what cap it is. So this is "name that piece".
On the reel there is a cap or knob that you tighten and lossen to make your spool run faster or slower when you cast a bait caster. Basicly you loosen it to cast a lighter weight. What is that cap called?
HELP. This is a $70.00 reel.

i don't know the exact name of that cap but you can get another one form several places ... one of them is here

do some searches (reel repair) & check around ... you may find it cheaper

guess the part is labled "spool control knob". so far I have not found anything cheaper yet. Seems like $12 and change is awfull high for a knob.

yeah, spool brake - crank it up casting it the wind, crank in down when you're free lining shrimp in a grass poket 20 yards out.

that sucks. i have a 6500 C3 also and a 5000 C3 love them both. i call it the Magnetic brake knob. and to tell ya the truth if i had to spend $20 for a part i would damn sure do it for my Abu's.
