Now that they are going/gone shallow I am thinking of trolling. I know its backwards but they will not be shallow forever. Is anyone using or have any experience with Umbrella rigs? The only ones I can seem to find are for Striper and are too heavy. Does anyone have a line on this or do I need start producing my own?

I hear ya! Many won't even consider trolling right now! Umbrella rigs? How deep are you going to troll 3-10ft? I fish a spread using more rods 6-8 depending if I have someone along. Use 1/32-1/64 and target fish coming in and out. Do you pull the umbrella rig? Brad

Is the umbrella rig the same as spider rigging? http://www.beereadys.com/Either of Wally's dvds show trolling and rigging.

No an umbrella rig is a four wire armed fixture onto which you tie on jigs to simulate a school of bait fish. You can still spider rig but have an umbrella rig on your rods instead of one or two jigs tied on. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...t=SearchResults

In the Wally Marshall 1st dvd he talks about having 12 rods out there with 2 jigs on each. He mentions that you are creating your own school with all of those jigs moving along. I remember now about the umbrella, I never rigged one up. One line with 4 to 6 jigs coming off of it in an umbrella shape. Do that with a spider rig and hit a feeding frenzy - wow what a mess of tangled lines! Good luck guys. I have enough trouble with 2 rods with one bait each and when both are hit I usually panic.
