I used polomar as well. It seems that the outer lip of the crappie rub against it as well. I need to re-tie after 10 fish caught or go back to breaded line which I am thinking of since I have a spool.

I use the 12' so I can almost go vertical over spot or swing to a spot that might be a tad away. Allows me to pin point the placement into tight spots as well. I can always bring a smile to ones face when I use it! smile

I use the rubber nets from BPS.. They usually put them on sale in their spring show for around $15.00.

I use 12 lb Line (Stren Clear Blue Fluorescent to be exact, I can see that line pretty good), for most all my Crappie Fishing. The exception is ultralite spinning rod fishing, where I use 4lb braided line, with 6lb mono leader.

I don't use nets on Crappie. For long poles and the normal 6 to 7 feet rods fishing vertically, I just contiune the retrieve on the fish with a farily slow and even pull up (retrieve) and when they get near the top continue that same slow retrieve/motion with a lift and swing right into the boat or back to you.

I think more fish are lost with the net or trying to lip the crappie than just a steady (slowish) lift and swing back to you.

I hate to see a Crappie (or Bass) make a splash or turn on the top of the water. One continues motion (with no hesitations or pause at the surface) is best for me. But don't rush anything.

For Hybrids (with customers) we use a net. If I'm by by myself with hybrids or stippers it's still just getting thier head and momentum moving towards the boat and them just pop them in the boat.
