Jason -- on the drift sock bigger is better...I bet with the high sides on your boat it drifts really fast in the wind. I bet my bay boat can beat a sail boat with a light breeze smile smile

The dump line makes it easy and fast to reset a new drift...without the dump line = it is way more work than pulling up the anchor.

You're a young strong guy though...

I need to get back to fishing again, but I am watching those winds too.

Yep it is hard for me to drift with the wind because I end up going to fast. It is easier to face the boat into the waves and use the trolling motor to control my drift speed but I do have to be attentive when doing this or the front of the boat will go back and forth.

Don't know if I would consider myself young and strong eeks

I like the idea of hooking a drift sock to the back of the boat and using the trolling motor to adjust as necessary.

I got out this afternoon and tried the main lake. Ended up with a 2-2-2 day ..... 2 yellows, 2 sandies, 2 hybrids ..... so slow. Hybrids were 17" and 18", and both came along the dam. No birds working that I could find. Tried shallow without any luck and my bites all came in water 15-20 ft deep.

Didn't try the creeks ..... did anybody light em up in Bear or Rocky??

Didnt fish today. But, yesterday I went all the way up the Clearfork in the boat almost to the 377 bridge. Only caught 2 sandies. Saw a few people catching on the bank but nothing like years past. I know creeks on other lake are on fire. Maybe it will get better??? This was the day that the cold front came through, maybe that made a difference. I may try the river again tomorrow, if the main lake is not producing. You can access some nice spots on the river from the boat.

Hey Dutchman, how do you like that Targa? I've got a V16 which has served me well over the last 5 years.
I use a driftsock, it is worth getting one IMO and I'd spring for the dumpstrap.
If you see me out on BB say hello.

Love the Targa it does exactly what I want it to do! I think I have seen you out on Benbrook in the past. If you see me feel free to come by and say hi also.

How big of drift sock do you have?

Was wanting to go Friday AM, but forecast looks bad with moderate chance of precip and 20mph winds. Hope you're right about Sat winds being lighter. If so, I'll be giving BB another try - - maybe see you guys out there.
