Yesterday a severe storm swept through with some serious hail and wind, as well as drenching rains. For a while, all the trees in the area were bent totally sideways. And even before that, we were getting hammered with hail the size of golf-balls, and larger! We saw some chunks of hail hit that were probably tennis ball sized! Luckily, the storm blew through very fast, and we didn't get too much damage other then dented cars. Hopefully we won't need to replace the roof again. As it was starting to wind down, I ventured out to the front stoop to take a couple pics: Once the storm was gone, my dad and I went outside to take some pictures of what was left of the hail. Keep in mind, it was 80 degrees outside, it had been pouring rain, and the biggest hail had been breaking up when it hit the ground, and had already been melting by the time we got out too it. Notice the quarters, for reference! How'd you like to get hit by these two? And the back of the storm, after it passed: Little bit of rotation we noticed:

Dang!! Reminds me a little of living in West Texas. I remember going home from college one May to Big Spring in '95 and getting hammered with softball sized hail by a freak storm. it dented the roads and the guard rails!!!! Crazy. Praise God everyone is ok up there.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Wow. I got caught by one of those freak hail storms once. Totalled out my car and it was 2 feet from the garage. I had started replacing the entire braking system so it was up on stands. Notice the shreaded tree leaves on my car!

Great pics Starless, Amazing the speed and damage hail does even at 80 degrees outside. Think how cold that air above must be to create the size of hail before it reaches the ground? Glad everthing there is ok! Aloha
