Just bought a Revo sx-hs Any special place to start the dial over run control? all mine are older reels that you tyake the side plate off and adjust the mags then reassemble , Weather is warming up will start practicing flipping in back yard now that the snow is gone.. thanks for the help. Should have gotten a new reel sooner and wouldn't have to ask such a bumb ques. Thanks

When it backlashes you tighten the settings a little.

Retry and adjust if necessary.

Every time you change baits you may need to tweak it a bit.

Practice, practice, practice and you'll still get backlashes in the wind.

The way I do mine is to set the magnetic brakes (left side of a right hand reel) at the highest setting. Then set the line spool brake like you would an older style. Once that is set I start casting without thumbing the spool and lowering the mag brakes each time just to the point you have to thumb it then I usually go back up one notch.

I always have to reset everything after I cast it a few times as things loosen up from being cold. I usually find the sweet spot for the brake first then as I go I only need to adjust the cast control knob to compensate for changing baits.
