I dont like dunlop, never been to mcqueeny but planning on it soon, but the ski traffic will get pretty crazy!!!! I love placid which is the next in the chain but the ramp is closed!

Might want to try medina, a 12lb bass was caught out there recently, and its alot bigger wont have to worry about all the skiers as much...

Haven't been on McQueeney in years, I fish Dunlap often due to the fact that I live there. I have caught some on worms and crankbaits in 6 to 12 feet lately. When the weather gets better the ski boats will mess the water up and make it hard to fish. Dunlap is not a bad river/lake fish the docks and drop offs.

Havn't been to McQueeney since last summer. Used to do pretty well around the discharge (up the river) and in the pads around the Treasure Island bridge (both sides of the bridge, island side). Used to do well in the pads by the old Hot Shots place but don't do well there anymore.

Went to Placid Saturday. Hadn't been there in about 10 years (since '98 flood). Caught four, including one that went 4.4#...all shallow on jerkbaits (soft plastic and hard). Had no luck with worms of any kind (unlike others who were there same weekend). Luckily the weather was bad Saturday so I didn't have to fight the skiers. Both places will be loaded with them...as well as Medina, which is of course bigger and less of a problem. I just can't catch fish there. I've McQueeney Park??? is out of business, now with free boat launching. The Dunlap public ramp is crappy...quite a bit of current and pretty steep. Perhaps you can find one of the other ramps.

Hope this helps. I'd be forced to bass fish at Braunig if the weather is nice...no skiers. Not familiar with Calaveras.

Have not been to Dunlap in a while. Everyone is right on, the ski traffic will drive you insane. They make it very hard to fish.

Have you tried Canyon? I have been there the last 2 weeks, and have had pretty good luck with white and black bass.

So is Placid alot better than Dunlap?

I was on Dunlap this past Sunday. Caught the usual 10-15 fish, but all on the small side...just like usual. I've caught bigger fish in McQueeney. I would like to know if PLacid has bigger fish.
