A FRIEND AND I WENT FISHING EARLIER TODAY AND THE TEXAS PARKS&GAME WARDEN CAME AND ASKED US FOR OUR FISHING LICENSE. I GAVE HIM MINE AND HE GAVE HIM HIS. MINE CHECKED OUT AS CURRENT AND HIS CHECKED OUT EXPIRED. THE WARDEN WROTE HIM UP A CITATION FOR NO FISHING LICENSE. HE HAD A FISHING LICENSE BUT IT WAS EXPIRED?? DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE ON GIVING HIM A CITATION FOR NO LICENSE.. SHOULDN'T IT BE FOR EXPIRED LICENSE??
WHAT IS THE PENALTY IF HE WERE TO PAY FOR HIS CITATION?? PLEASE ELABORATE IN DETAIL SO I CAN TELL HIM HOW ITS GOING TO GO DOWN. HES A NERVOUS WRECK LOL HAHAHA.... LET ME KNOW GUYS ...
HOW MUCH? RANGE+ESTIMATE!!!
THANKS MY FELLO FRIENDS!

no real penalty except to pay for the fine and it shows up on your record...

Expired is the same as no license. Go buy a new one then go pay for the citation. We all have to pay the fishing tax $.

Ive heard wardens tell people before with no license to go buy a license before midnight so it is dated the same day as the citation - Most judges will then let you off.

I would go get that license today. Because I was told the law just changed and it is considered poaching and could be as much as a $1500 fine. That is what the people at Bass Pro told me when I bought mine.

Probably gonna do at least $120 worth of damage to him. Not too bad, but makes the money you pay for a license seem cheap.

Not to hijack the thread but if law enforcement asks you for ID and you have a CHL & are carrying, you're required to show the CHL license as well. I wonder if you required to show the CHL when presenting a fishing license to TPWD?
