Weather was nasty this morning so decided not to make the trip to Granger. Went to BCL instead. Did a little bank fishing. Caught about 6 crappie. 1 keeper that was about 12 inches a small LMB and hooked into an LMB that would probably have gone 4-5 lbs. Hooked the lmb about 6 feet off the bank in about 2 ft of water. Got a good look at him just before he wrapped around a tree and disappeared. It was fun for a bit. This little lake has potential. I can see why it is called Brushy Creek Lake. Brush everywhere along the bank. Gonna have to get me a small boat to fish this baby(anyone got one for sale cheap?). No boats with motors allowed just trolling motors. Anyways here is a pick of the one nice male keeper. Did take him off of the stringer and released him to get bigger.

Were you using live bait or lures? Jigum Jigs under a bobber. All fish caught were shallow and all were males. The ladies ought to be coming to the bank soon.
Keep on fishing.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Yep! You're right. No trolling motors. Gonna have to find a paddle boat or canoe.
Keep on fishing.

I am shocked to learn that weather was too nasty for you. You are an iron man... Must have been 6' waves! There are crappie in the little lake, there is nice map out there which I lost the link to. It shows some nice details from what I recall. I stopped fishing the lake about two years ago due to the increasing traffic in the park. The crappie just kept getting smaller and smaller.
