I recently bought a Jig Tying kit from BPS, and it is alot of fun. Got to use them the first time this weekend and yes they worked. I was tying more tonight, and wanted to see how they looked in the water, so I put them in my fish tank to see what they looked like (couldn't get my 6 inch gold fish to take em). I noticed they all hang vertical. I put one of my pan fish assassins in there and they hang horizontal. I thought I read on this forum that it was critical that the jig hang horizontal? If this is true, what am I doing wrong?

Don't know if you are tying them wrong or not. It's optimal that it hangs horizontal, but I've caught em' both ways. It's probably the knot that you are using. I tie a loop knot and all my jigs hang horizontal.
Nate Tight lines!

Thanks guys i will give that a try. I didn't have the line tied on, i just ran it through the eye and let it hang in the tank. I use the Uni-knot for all of my tying when fishing.

Take a look @ your jigheads they need to be balanced to hang correctly. See where the eye is located in relation to the bulk of the head it needs to be in the center. Change your jigheads to you are satisfied.

I bought the Cabela's package of 25, both the 1/16 and 1/8 sizes. All of these hang vertical. Your are right, I have the jigheads that came with my kit, and they hand horizontal. Wierd.

Ok, I feel stupid here. Newbie syndrome.
Thanks Skip for you PM. I read a lot more on tying.
I went back to the jigs I had tied. Filled up a pickle jar with water and tried all of my jigs. I had two that hung horz. Figured my problem out. My tails were to long. I pinched them off, trying to keep the length of my tail in proportion with the length of my jig. This worked for me!!
This site Rocks - I really appreciate all the people's free advice, and willingness to help a fellow out. Hope some day to be able to help someone else out as well. Thank you.
