I bought all new decals for my G3. Any good tips on removing the residue left behind?
I am working the hair dryer over the decals and removing them now, but a lot of sticky residue is still on the hull. I bought some Goo Gone and I am hoping that will help.
Just thought I'd ask you experts for any other tips? I know WD-40 also works, but I am trying to keep a non-chemical finish so the new decals will adhere.
Thanks for any tips!

walmart has some stuff back by the paint dept. or automotive call glue begone, or something like that. It does great taking the glue off after you take the decals off.

Use acetone after the goo gone or WD40.

I used my wifes hair dryer on high and a plastic putty knife to remove decals from my boat. After I got them off I cleaned the area with acetone.

WalMart sells some stuff called De-Solv-It that works really well too. It leaves a sort of oily residue that cleans off with Windex, etc. It's great for all kinds of stains, tar, adhesives, etc. I haven't tried it but it may get Spike-It out.

you can buy a vinyl wheel from an auto paint store...it will work very well.
Heat, usually more from a heat gun or torch is a much easier method than a hair dryer. Use a plastic putty knife as mentioned above.
Lastly, if you are going to use a chemical to do it or not...you'll need to prep the hull before you reapply. We reccomend alcohol or for a more effective clean, use Xylene.
The weather is here.....wish you were beautiful..

a g3, i'm assuming you have a painted alum. boat. i would grab one of thouse glue razor blade scraper tile wall paper things... like a long rod with a handle that you put a razor blade in the end. after you get that, get some touch up paint. get a can of carb cleaner or acetone. get a bottle of isophorylicorylisoprhly (whatever its called) alcohol. then follow - scrape. carb cleaner. cry because your paint is coming off. alcohol. touch up paint. alcohol. new decals.

Do not use Brake Cleaner, it will remove the paint. Ronsonol Lighter fluid will remove the glue residue and alcohol will be good to prep it for the new decals.

mineral spirits are the easiest on your gell coat
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
