Pretty much decided on purchasing a couple Navionics Platinum chips. Is the Nav planner my only option for viewing the maps on my PC? I've read elsewhere that some aren't real impressed with Nav Planner as far as xferring wpts and routes, etc. Where does the Nav Explorer program fit in the picture? It's only for viewing on the PC right? Thanks, TT

explorer, yes. it has the maps embedded in the software. so it wont read the chips. the NavPlanner is the best device to use to read your mapping chips. it takes a little patience in learning how to use it, but its worth it when you need to edt waypoints.

I tried to update my lowrance 28cHD last night with the new software revision and it did not load. I downloaded it successfully (I believe) from the website and when I put it in the unit and turned it on, there was a quick message that I couldn't read and then it went on to one of the normal screens after a bit. When I checked the revision it still had the old revision on it. Once again, the message was very quick but I believe it said something about "update not successful" or something to that effect. Any advice?

thanks John, that's what I was afraid of. Lot's of info for my old school head on the newer electronics. Nav Planner, Map Create, emulators, Fugawi??, and on and on. I'd like to know the simplest, most efficient way to view the Platinum map on the PC, xfer waypoints, trails, routes, from the Units to the PC and PC to the Units, and be able to store on the PC and backup the files. Jeez....it's like pickin out ant poison!!

navPlanner is the best application for that toledotee. it took me awhile to learn how to use it, and I still learn new tricks everytime I turn it on.. I have a problem with not reading the manuals before I play with the new toys...
