Which web site do you rely on the most for your fishing weather? The four I usually check out vary on wind speed by 8 mph for tomorrow. Doesn't seem like much but when we're talking 21 MPH, it's a boat load.

weather underground. become a member for $10 a year and you can look at alot of different stuff at alot of different places. they have the hybrid map that you can zoom in down to your fishin hole and "almost" can see the water color. kidding. pretty cool anyway.

weather.com has the best wind forecast, I think. WeatherUnderground always under forecasts wind on the lakes I fish, but it's a cool site.

This is pretty cool too. I'll agree that underground always underestimates the wind speed.

I wouldn't pay $1 a year to get a weather forecast. You can get it for free anywhere. They are all about 50% right when it comes to wind.

weather.gov/fwd. Bottom line, predicting wind is a PIA and you can get varying directions/values from different forecast models.
Wind isn't just driven by surface pressure(gradient), but by the amount of mixing from winds in the lowest 1-5 kft, so that can cause variability as well in speeds. Throw in less friction on water and more thermal contrast of temperature right above the surface then you see on land...Bam, you get higher values(gusts).
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you're going out on the water, you can just about add 8-12 mph, or slightly more on windy days.

weather.gov/fwd ...we don't get paid directly by customers, but pennies on the tax dollar for all citizens, that includes warnings/watches/advisories.

www.weather.gov/fwd (for North Texas) WeatherUnderground is a nice site as well. www.acuweather.com it has hour by hour forecast and its more accurate, in general, than any of the local weather forecasters/guessers. I don't think they teach how to forecast wind speed at meterology schools, at least not any that the local weather men have attended. I've seen two different weathermen from the same tv station on the same day vary their forecasts by 20+mph. Seems like they must throw darts at a board to get the wind forecast.

I have no clue why that darn thing posted 3 times. My apologies folks. That wasn't me trying to do that. *sigh*
What I meant though by adding 8-12 mph is adding it to the forecast wind direction/speed you see in the forecast. Hope that helps.
We also have "hour by hour" matrix products and meteograms, called the AFM (area forecast matrix) and PFM (point forecast matrix). You gotta go into "Forecasts" and find them, because they won't find you.
And AccuWeather are "guessers" just like anyone. So, you'd prefer someone in Pennsylvania giving you a forecast for N TX? I wouldn't. Also, they're a profit organization, we're NOT. LOL...thought I'd point it out.

Weather Underground has the best overall weather forecast by far. I own a landscaping company and watch weather patterns several times a day. I also will use noaa.com as well for a precip tracker. These two sites are my faves.
