Saturday morning at Fairfield I was wading out about waist deep throwing a big rattle trap and caught a 14 pound Redfish. I do not know much about them. I know they are original salt water fish. I have caught an 8 pounder down in South Padre. But is a 14 pond redfish a pretty good size?

I caught my first ever Red at Fairfield in January. Weight a little over 7 and all I can say is they do fight like a beast.

Good eatin too! Don't know about a 14 pounder, but the smaller ones are great with some blackening seasonings and cooked on a red hot cast iron skillet

36.83 is the lake record Red Drum at Fairfield, but being from the gulf coast growing up, I would say that 14 pounds is definitely a good catch. Congratulations. smile
