Just the weekend my bass club was having it's first tourney of the year and of all things my hubby put the plug in the livewell hole. Needless to say we had a boat full of water. This was the first time he ever did that. There's been a couple of times he didn't even put it in. Confession is good for the soul, I did the same thing with the plug in the livewell drain.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

A. Idling out of Rogers Creek and you run up on a stump and my friend freaks out and jumps up out of the seat. The weight of him standing up caused the stump to puncture my boat. Thanks!
B. Fishing a all nighter on Sandlin. I catch a 5lber at 1AM and see she is trying to go belly up right when she gets put in the livewell. I talk my buddy into weighing her in. We idle out (of what I thought all the stumps) and I tell him we're free from the trees, gun it. About 20 second later I see trees flying by in the glow of the running lights! We hit one branch or tree that was leaning at an angle. We both ducked just in time to miss our heads being cut off. His boat was left with a nasty gash and two guys about to have a heart attack! My BAD!
It's fishing fun!

Speared a wave on L Erie and almost killed mt partner when the trolling motor got ripped off. Thank god for dual consoles on that boat. Plus lost my new X-17 (an awesome graph at the time). Had to pay some dough for the glass work after that happened. I think the next year Skeeter bumped up the amount of glass in the front there, because the next year I speared another one the same size on L Mich and had water to my mid calf and the motor stayed put, could have been the new motorguide though. Instead of the big honking MK. I will say after buying my Legend spearing waves has been cut exponentially. Got to love the big water ride of Legend Boats.

14 years old and buddy was 15 years old. in a flat bottom. a small 5 horse motor on the back and we were not catching fish but we had aour 22's with us to shoot snakes. we got about 10. then we saw one on the bank under a tree hanging out. eased up and he said give it a little gas well it took off and went up under the tree. there hust happened to be a cotton mouth in the tree as well. he falls takes out the wires to the spot lite and is in the flat bottom. after 17 holes in the boat the snake makes a splash out of the boat. my buddy got the wire on the lite im sitting fully on the little motor and we have 17 little holes that look like we are at hot springs comming up in the boat. gets better. the plug is jb welded in the boat. half way back we are now swinning with 2 22's and no boat.

about 10 yrs ago at tradinghouse creek, we had just finished our weigh in for the club tourney. Two country boys pull up w/ a brand new nitro in tow. The ramp is extremely steep, but they think its a good idea to unhook the boat at the top of the ramp. For whatever reason, the owner decides to walk down alongside the boat rather than get in it... pointless since they've already unhooked the boat. His partner starts to back down and hits his brakes once the boat starts down the steep ramp. the jolt of the braking jars the boat loose and it slides off the trailer, all the way down the ramp, and into the water. what a horrible sound!! the owner had to swim out to the boat. he was so embarassed, he didn't even pull the boat out to inspect it.

night fishing it was about 3 in the morning and I was getting ready to leave. I had been fishing up close to the launch so I just trolled over to the boat dock with the trolling motor and tied up and got out to go get the truck. Got back to the boat and go to the trailer to load up and guess what, I forgot to pull the trolling motor up and didn;t notice it. As soon as it hit the end of the trailer I felt like a dummy. It bent the heck out of it and I had to replace the shaft. Turned out ok though, it was a 45incher that was too short anyway and needed to be longer so I went ahead and put a 50 in when I replaced. It did make me feel like an idiot and there were a few folks crappie fishing off the dock that probably thought so too.

Hit a stump going around 20 (it was flooded, thought i was on a boar road)... Sheered the disk on the prop, but luckily no horrible damage and a quick fix.
Best part of the day was fishing all the way back to the boathouse since all i had to move myself was a half dead trolling motor.
Setting three on continous, spinnerbait the hell out of the bank. Caught 5 fish in 30 mins on the way back.

just a couple that come to mind...
Out on a friends boat on Hubbard, he drops the anchor and we fish a bit, decide to move and he never pulls it up, we are running 40mph, the anchor passed us. Not good
couple years ago, 17 degrees outside, drizzle, fog, wind. Here's an idea lets go duck hunting on Lavon. Motor thru the waves back into the river on the north end, break both shear pins on stumps. Try and use guns as oars because we forgot one, ( guns unloaded of course)wind was too much. end up stashing boat in reeds and walking back along the shore in darkness, everything that is wet is frozen solid. Buddy and I have to share gloves cause his cotton cloves got wet and froze. I would wear the left and he would wear the right, switch every 10 minutes. You have to walk real careful in the dark in the north end of Lavon, lots of stumps. about 4 hours later we find the truck, its doors frozen shut. Had to go get the boat the next morning and do it all over again. Never again. I now carry about 50 shear pins with me.
( O.T I know you remember this wonderful day! )

1. I was unfimiliar with a lake in TN, not a good thing when you're night fishing. I thought the bouy marked the channel. I was very wrong, It marked a rockpile in about 6 inches of water. Good thing I was coming out of a no wake.
2. Skipped work with a buddy and went fishing on a late October day in KY. Got my $3 spinnerbait hung on the bank and jumped out of the boat on a slick steep bank to get it. I swam back to the boat. Muddy+Slick+Steep=Wet. Winch strap broke on my boat while loading in the wind and rain. (I really didn't care about the rain. I spent the of the 40 degree day wet from my little spill earlier that morning.) While on our way home going down a big hill, We fely a thud. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw sparks coming from where my trailer wheel use to be. I also saw my wheel go passed us at a very high rate of speed. This happened on the same trip. This was also before cell phones. After about a 2 hour delay we finally got back on the road with only 3 studs to bolt the wheel to. We made it home safely and my buddy got in trouble by his lovely and non-understanding wife.
I have always prayed for the Lord to watch over us and keep us safe. Now, I'm a little more specific when I pray.

Sold a boat to a buddy of mine, the one thing he didnt like was that the drivers side box didnt have a rod rack, he goes to BPS and buys one just as soon as he picks up the boat, he goes home and installs it then goes fishing for the day, he calls me and says "Whats the deal this boat is leaking big time" He had fished with me a lot before this and knew it had never leaked more than normal....I head over there and as I pull into his driveway I see 8 or 10 big long screws sticking out the bottom right under the rod box...end of story.

I was cruising down I-30 after fishing at Lake Fork for the weekend. I look over to my left because I heard a noise and my boat and trailer were passing me in the left lane. I had forgotten to latch my hitch down. Luckily this was an aluminum bass tracker and not the Champion. The boat and trailer pass me and end up in the median of the interstate. I pulled past it, backed up, and hooked it up. Not one bit of damage except that the hitch looked like polished steel. All of the traffic behind me had completely stopped and stayed that way for 5 minutes while I rehooked my boat. I don't think anyone believed what they just saw.
