Has anyone used those cheap outriggers for smaller boats? I have a set but they seem way to flimsy! Has anybody tried to stiffin them up with spray foam or inserting a rod in them? I don't see how they can be effective the way they are.

run some braided nylon (or cord) from some point on the
poles up toward the bow and tie off

it'll help reduce the flex..... play with it 'til you get
the flex (or lack of it) that you like

I have used them on a boat as small as 17', trolling for sp. macks in Ft. Walton Beach and it worked like a charm. I wouldn't mind getting me some for my current boat.

Trolling they worked great.

Running between the bridges, not soo good.
