Has anyone tried the ABU Garcia Black Max. Almost baught one today at Academy for $70. Looks like a decent reel. Any thoughts.

Just did a search and found where this has been asked before. Sorry about that. Appears to be a good reel for the money.

$70!!!! thats highway robbery!!!! Walmart has em cheaper. they work well when you clean and the red grease out of the bearings and reappply with a good reel oil (quantum hot sauce will work)

I have one a like it. It is real smooth reel and great for bigger fish. Check the side plate....Made in Sweden.

Rick That is a different Black Max, the new LP Max's are made in China.
