I am thinking about fishing in inflatable boats because I been fishing from shore with not very good results. Anyone can recommend me a good inflatable boat or really cheap boat? thanks

find some beer kegs, completely rid inside of all traces of moisture, weld them shut, make sure they are sealed completely, attach a chair to them and get some paddles.

Tubes work really well. The fancy ones these days are really nice....much better than the original tire inner tubes. Have you considered Yaks? I don't own one yet, but they seem to be very practical, lightweight, and highly maneuverable. They have come down in price somewhat, also.

But seriously, do you guys know any good spots south side of Grapevine Lake? Its pretty tough lake for me... but then again, any lake is tough for me cause I am starter :P

I bought a used inflatable pontoon boat from a fellow TFFer. It has 8' inflatable pontoons, and a pretty comfortable boat seat sits on a frame between the pontoons. It is very very comfortable and your but is not in the water. I car topped it on top of an Escort Hatchback today with no problem. You do not have room for much tackle or fishing rods on one this small. A similar one at Bass Pro runs $499 and the gross weight limit is 350#. These boats go up in size and price.

If you just want a cheap boat to get out on the water in watch the want ads, craigslist, and the want ads in the TFF. I have seen 14" jon boats for as little as $100. The LOngview paper even had a 1975 deck boat, 135 hp motor and trailer for $500 in the last two days.

Only reason I am kinda scared of that though is what if I hit a sharp branch or something and pop? I am kinda switching my idea to really cheap jon boat instead.... it would really suck if my inflatable boat pops in middle of water....

I would recommend a jon boat. Brand new a 14' from BPS runs $700-800 (if you want a livewell in it) and the shorter ones run like 10' run $500. Before you go spend $400 on an inflatable, I'd save up the extra $100 and buy a jon boat. They are also on Craigslist and in the paper used for $50+ all the time too. I've run into people looking to give them away just to get them out of their yard (the older ones that need a little TLC before putting them on the water).

Hey Snagg - I have a Sea Eagle 8 w/MK trolling motor - works great!
I can get out on smaller lakes, ponds when the wind isn't too bad.
I did poke a tiny hole once when I was up in Buck Creek (RayBob)
fishing the timber, but I patched it no problem, and that was 3 yrs ago.
I didn't even know it had a hole till I came back to shore 3-4 hrs later.
One big advantage - it stores easily. I inflate it, strap on top, and I can
carry it easily enough to the water and be ready to go in about 15min.

bassnblues - did you buy your Sea Eagle off of there website or is there somewhere in the DFW area that sells them?
